About
the artist...
Jolly
Kornicks is an award winning artist. She is a long
time resident of Huntington Beach, CA, as well as
part-time resident of Kauai. Jolly married Alan
Kornicks in 1970. They moved several times before
settling down in Huntington Beach. When her daughters
were preparing to leave home; Jolly decided to enroll
in a local college to take art classes for fun.
She has always enjoyed art and with the girls gone,
she now had time to experiment with it. From the
moment she picked up the brush, she fell in love
with the magic of watercolor. The main body of her
work is large flowers. Kornicks' flowers are over-sized
and dramatically rendered. They give the viewer
insight into the artist's love for the vibrancy
and vitality of flowers. She uses strong axial structure,
both vertical and horizontal to give her paintings
dynamic energy. She is completely devoted to watercolor
as a medium and flowers as subjects. After several
years of painting, Jolly had a list of people that
wanted to commission her to create paintings for
their homes. Jolly quickly found, that what started
as a hobby, soon, became her passion. Her work is
currently shown in galleries in Hawaii and California.
